Prospect of Corn Oil Manufacturing

Corn germ is a by-product of corn starch and alcohol industry. corn products in China account for 15% of total output, and in the west it is more than 30%. According to the China grain and oil information center statistics, in 2006 4.5 million ton ethanol is processed in China in the consumption of 1 3.5 million ton corn, which takes up 38% of the total production. Research shows that when corn germ extraction yield increases 1%, corn germ oil production rate can be increased by 0.3% ~ 0.49%. Its economic benefit is very considerable.
After expelling, crude protein in corn germ cake is 23% ~ 25%. As the corn germ cake contains corn fiber, it is usually used as feeds. If the well separated corn germ is processed with and solvent oil leaching method, the defatted corn germ cake becomes a nutritional and delicious food additive after desolventizing and deodorization process. It can be used in cakes, cookies and bread. Corn germ resources are very abundant in our country. If we boost manufacture of corn germ oil, pioneering new oil resource, we can make use of it to develop healthcare and functional food. We make use of the crude protein after oil manufacture, which is economically and biologically beneficial by reducing costs and pollution.
